OPEN CALL FOR GO-TO-MARKET EXPERTS
Use your expertise to help a Central American business evaluate new markets and devise a strategy for market entry.
You will use your experience to advise a Salvadoran or Guatemalan business in one or more of the following areas:
- Understanding the Market: Guide a comprehensive analysis of potential target markets to understand market dynamics, the competitive landscape, prices, and market trends and assist in defining and profiling target audiences (demographics, preferences, cultural nuances).
- Market Entry Strategy – Positioning: Review current branding, messaging, and pricing and develop a strategy and plan to adjust based on market expectations and competition, leveraging identified competitive advantages.
- Market Entry Strategy – Partnering: Evaluate and develop strategies for establishing and maintaining partnerships and distribution channels with reliable brokers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, or online platforms as relevant for the market.
Volunteer Skills Needed:
- Proven track record of successfully guiding food & beverage businesses through market entry processes, particularly into the U.S. market.
- Solid understanding of global markets, consumer behaviors, and market trends, with the ability to tailor strategies to different market dynamics.
- Expertise in developing and executing market entry strategies, including branding, messaging, pricing, and leveraging competitive advantages.
- Extensive knowledge of various distribution channels in the food industry, including retail partnerships and e-commerce.
- Experience identifying, establishing and maintaining partnerships with reliable brokers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, or online sales platforms.
- Prior experience with food products common in Central America preferred, such as coffee and “nostalgic” products.
- Experience consulting for small businesses, including the ability to identify core challenges, refine a scope of project, and lead discussions to progress along defined scope.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively and provide clear and actionable recommendations.
Anticipated Start: This activity is expected to begin in September, October, or November 2024
Volunteer Commitment: Approximately 40 hours over 2 to 3 months
