OPERATIONS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT EXPERT NEEDED

Leverage your expertise in operations and process improvement to support a rapidly growing business in Guatemala. Your role will focus on developing a robust organizational structure that supports sustainable growth without the need for continuously adding more departments. You will work with the leadership team on streamlining workflows, standardizing processes, and integrating cross-functional back-office operations that ensure efficiency and scalability. Additionally, you will help establish key performance metrics and introduce technologies that drive continuous improvement, enabling the business to grow effectively while maintaining a strong, cohesive team.

You will use your experience to consult in the following areas:

  • Organizational Structuring for Business Unit Integration: Develop an organizational framework (e.g., organizational chart) to accommodate new business units. This includes identifying roles, responsibilities and workflows that ensure seamless integration of emerging ventures – such as the addition of a food-focused business line – while allowing for future scalability.
  • Process Assessment and Optimization: Evaluate current service processes, identifying inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and recommend solutions for scalability and efficiency across diverse business units. Develop a roadmap that enhances quality and operational flow, supporting growth within the industrial and environmental sectors and beyond.
  • Standardization: Establish best practices and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored to the diverse business needs. Guide on training leadership and staff on these SOPs to ensure smooth adoption, operational consistency, and preparedness for new market demands.
  • Technology Integration: Recommend and guide the implementation of technology solutions that streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve overall efficiency across the business operations.

Scope of Work:

  • Organizational Structuring and Process Integration: Design an adaptable organizational framework to integrate and support diverse business units effectively.
  • Service Process Optimization and Automation: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational workflows for increased productivity and reduced operational inefficiencies.
  • Operational Efficiency and Quality Assurance: Develop and standardize procedures to ensure consistent quality and efficiency across all business units and locations.
  • Training and Continuous Improvement: Create training programs and onboarding materials to equip staff with the tools and knowledge needed to implement and sustain improved processes.

Volunteer Skills:

  • Experience in designing organizational structures to integrate new business units.
  • Expertise in process optimization, with a background in identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions.
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing SOPs, managing organizational change, and supporting process adoption.
  • Skills in training and onboarding staff, coupled with the ability to develop training materials.
  • Knowledge of integrating technology to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience consulting for small businesses, including the ability to identify core challenges, refine the scope of project, and lead discussions to progress along the defined scope.
  • Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively and provide clear and actionable recommendations.

Anticipated Start: December 2024 – January 2025

Volunteer Commitment: Approximately 40 hours over 2 to 3 months
